NCS offer careers in construction industry in quantity surveying to men and women throughout the UK, Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East, Far East, Australasia, North and South America.

Careers in construction are open to self-motivated and experienced construction professionals who have commitment, drive, enthusiasm, expertise and a will to succeed in financial management of construction projects throughout the world.

NCS are always looking for Quantity Surveyors with a background in Main Contracting who can operate on their own initiative and as part of a team. They should be experienced in the financial management of construction projects on and off-site with skills in interim and final measurement, the preparation of valuations, the evaluation of variations in accordance with contract provisions and the preparation, submission and negotiation of final accounts.

They should be computer literate and be able to work with the common software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Power Point for example.

Quantity Surveyors seeking careers in construction also need to possess the ability to communicate well with all levels of Contractor and Engineer or Architects' staff and achieve results through reasoned argument, professional presentation and persuasive inter-personal skills.

The ability to successfully administer and settle subcontract accounts is also one of the key skills we are looking for. QSs are required to analyse tenders, establish budgets and forecasts and proceed with the procurement and letting of subcontract packages on the best available and most favourable terms. The management of subcontractors and the financial implications of successful integration of their works into the Main Contractor's operations is also a key role.

We also look for the ability to analyse and research areas of dispute, include proper evaluations within the add/omit and variation accounts, develop arguments into statements of case and prepare, compile, submit, negotiate and reach agreement on contractual claims. We also look for personnel with experience in the various processes of arbitration, litigation, adjudication, mediation and other forms of dispute resolution.

Personnel are required for positions on site to look after the financial interests of Main Contractors. These careers in construction are found within the UK from London and the South, Cornwall and the South West, through the Midlands, North Wales, South Wales, the North West, the North East and Scotland and Ireland.

Overseas, contracts in the Middle East including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Yemen and Iran. In the Far East there are careers in construction for QSs to carry out site QS work and claims in Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Singapore and Malaysia.

The type of work includes civil engineering, building, dredging, process, M & E,
Petrochemicals, oil exploration, marine and water.

We are interested in Quantity Surveyors who are currently operating as freelance individuals, limited companies or partnerships but who would like to work with a network of other professionals yet still retain their self-employed or independent status. Our company offers the opportunity for individuals to work independently as self employed quantity surveyors but at the same time, have the benefits of working direct for a company in terms of support of colleagues and associates.

We also require planners or QSs or engineers with planning skills to work on programmes, forecasts, extension of time claims, critical path analysis, contractual claims and to provide other services to our clients.

We offer good rates of pay appropriate for the high calibre of staff we choose. There is flexibility in the method of payment (daily rates, weekly rates, hourly rates or fee basis) and we look to develop long term relationships with our personnel to the mutual benefit of all concerned.
